Vera Dijkmans, a London-based model and influencer with over seven million followers across social media, has shared her frustrations with dating after launching an unconventional search for love on TikTok.

Nearly a year ago, she posted a video announcing that she was accepting applications from men to be her boyfriend.

The idea quickly took off, with around 5,000 hopefuls applying but despite the overwhelming response, Vera says only three men actually met her standards.

“I went on dates with them, but I’m still single,” she told NeedToKnow. “Even though the results weren’t what I hoped for, I still see it as a success because I got to be clear about what I want and see who fit that.”

The selection process wasn’t without its bizarre moments. One man offered to send her a sample of his blood and asked for hers in return, while another promised never to flirt with her friends something Vera assumed was common sense.

She also hinted that a well-known celebrity had slipped into her DMs during the process but kept his identity under wraps.

Most of the applicants were from Texas, and oddly, many of them shared the Aquarius star sign. One man explained he still lived with his parents and didn’t own a car but boasted about having two boats.

Another had a good job but refused to give her the larger closet. These quirky red flags helped Vera refine what she really wanted in a partner.

The original application included personal questions like whether the applicant still lived at home, had any current hookups, and if they owned a vehicle.

Vera has never been in a long-term relationship, and while she enjoyed the experience of filtering through applicants, she now says she’s done with online applications. “If I ever try something like this again, it will be in real life not online,” she said.

She previously shared that her ideal partner should be funny, financially independent, into cartoons, and have great taste in music.

But above all, she refuses to settle. “I’m very picky and I want someone who’s almost perfect,” she said. “I’d rather stay single than compromise. The right person is out there I’m just waiting until I find him.”
