Megan Nutt turned down a full university scholarship to chase a TikTok career and it paid off in ways she never imagined.
The 22-year-old now has over 12 million followers on the platform (@megnutt02), a thriving online presence, and the financial freedom to travel the world and buy her own home, all before most of her peers have finished college.
Originally on track to study law, Megan graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and was offered a full scholarship to Florida International University.

But by the time she was 17, her TikTok videos were gaining serious traction, and when she found out her classes would be mostly on Zoom post-lockdown, she decided to commit fully to content creation. “I’m all or nothing. Sometimes Plan B stops you from achieving Plan A,” she said.

Her videos range from dance clips to comedic skits and acting, and while she’s faced criticism online, Megan says the hate only pushed her to grow faster.
People judge me, but I work harder now than I would in a traditional job. I put in 11 hours a day,” she said. “This isn’t just dancing around it’s full-time.”

Now based in Florida, Megan says she’s proud of building her dream life outside the conventional route. She’s bought her own home, traveled to places like Japan, and developed a loyal fanbase.
I don’t regret skipping college. I’ve had more life experiences, more freedom, and more financial stability than I ever would have had following a traditional path.”

Megan’s journey began secretly during lockdown at 17, when she posted her first TikToks behind her parents’ backs. One video got 10,000 views and kickstarted her rise. “It wasn’t meant to be a career it just happened. But I’m glad it did.”
Her parents eventually supported her decision to skip university, and Megan’s never looked back. “Everything worked out better than I planned. I’m happy, financially secure, and doing something I love. I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
