A young woman who once dreamed of becoming a nanny says her ambitions were repeatedly crushed not because she lacked qualifications, but because of how she looks.
Alê Gaúcha, 21, from Porto Alegre, Brazil, claims she was turned away from over 50 nanny job interviews and believes her curvy figure overshadowed her credentials.
After graduating from a nanny course three years ago, Alê was eager to start working with children and become financially independent.

But despite being prepared and presenting her training confidently, she was never hired. “I’d walk in feeling ready, talk about everything I’d learned, show my certificates but no one ever followed up,” she said.
At first, I thought maybe it was my lack of experience, but after so many interviews, it became clear it wasn’t that. My appearance was speaking louder than my professionalism.”
Feeling disheartened but not defeated, Alê made a bold pivot. Rather than let rejection break her, she leaned into what was holding her back and used it to her advantage online. She began posting content on social media, quickly building a large following.
She now has over 525,000 fans and has built a thriving career as a content creator, including adult content.
“Since my curves always attracted attention anyway, I decided to make them part of my professional life,” she said.
People now just see me as an adult content creator and have no idea I once dreamed of being a nanny. But that part of me is still there I worked hard for it, I prepared for it, and I’ll always be proud of that.”
While she acknowledges the path she took wasn’t the one she originally imagined, Alê says it ultimately gave her something more valuable: freedom. “I was searching for stability, but what I found was independence,” she said. “And in a way, I feel like I’ve reclaimed what people tried to take from me my confidence.”
