As the UK braces for another heatwave this weekend, the Asian elephants at Whipsnade Zoo are beating the heat with their own luxurious method a splash in their private pool.
Leading the charge is two-year-old Nang Phaya, who delighted zookeepers by joyfully plunging into the water, fully submerging herself before scooping up mouthfuls to cool down and hydrate.
Soon after, the rest of the herd joined in, including Ming Jung, a 4.5-tonne bull elephant, also taking a dip to escape the rising temperatures.

Their refreshing pool session ended with a hose-down from keeper Emily Hanley, as the elephants swayed happily under the spray, clearly enjoying every moment.

It’s not just the elephants getting attention Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire is home to more than 11,000 animals across 600 acres, including giraffes, white rhinos, and many other wildlife wonders.
